Overview

ClubChalamet refers to a stan account for the American actor Timothée Chalamet run by a woman named Simone Cromer. Cromer began her hobby of running fan pages for Chalamet in 2018, and in 2023, ClubChalamet drew flack for posting a reaction to videos of Chalamet and his rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner kissing at a concert. Internet onlookers noted the parasocial nature of ClubChalamet's posts, as well as Cromer's age, which is rumored to be 57. Posts made by ClubChalamet sparked off conversations about ageism in "stan" communities, with some internet users mocking a post made by Cromer where she discusses turning down a job offer in the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center

Simone Cromer began her hobby of maintaining fan pages for 1995-born Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet in June 2018, when they made a messageboard forum called ClubChalamet^[1] dedicated to discussing his work, creating the inaugural thread to discuss his movie Hot Summer Nights (seen below).

Cromer began posting to the Instagram^[2] page @ClubChalamet in 2018 as well, uploading an image of Chalamet on September 25th, 2018 as the first post on the page (seen below, left). On April 17th, 2022, she^[3] posted an image of herself posing with Timothée Chalamet, gathering over 2,000 likes in a year (seen below).

Developments

On September 5th, 2023, a video of Timothée Chalamet smoking^[4] and a video of him kissing^[5] his long-rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner at a Beyoncé concert began making the rounds on X. The video of Chalamet smoking gathered over 22 million views and 44,000 likes when posted by @PopBase (seen below).

Also on September 5th, @ClubChalamet posted a meme^[6] showing an imagined version of the conversation between Chalamet and Jenner in the above clip, insinuating that the relationship is a PR campaign orchestrated by Kylie's mother Kris Jenner. The page also made a text post^[7] reassuring fans bothered by the video.

The account also posted a Matthew McConaughey Smoking meme with a long caption addressing the public reveal of Chalamet and Jenner's relationship, calling Jenner "Slurpee" and saying that her "relentless pursuit" of Chalamet finally paid off. She also said that she "still" loves Timothée, and that "this situation with slurpee will end in time."

Internet users reacted to ClubChalamet's posts with humor, finding her characterisation of Chalamet's relationship overbearing and parasocial. X^[8] user @visenyasdaughtr reposted @ClubChalamet's text post on September 5th saying, "it’s not that serious 😭" and gathering over 7,000 likes in a week.

On September 6th, X^[9] user @marenyearly made a post that read, "We been saying clubchalamet 40… she’s 57………," gathering over 4,000 likes in a week. Also on September 6th, X^[10] user @marenyearly posted a clip of Chalamet skipping over the admin of ClubChalamet at a promotional event. The post gathered over 1 million views and 7,000 likes (seen below).

News about Simone Cromer's age continued to gain attention on social media, as seen in reactions to a post she made about turning down a job at the World Trade Center in New York before 9/11 occurred. X^[11] user @ianisuglyyy quoted her post on September 13th saying, "if you got a job offer in 2001 how old are you running Timothee Chalamet fan account?? 😭😭" The post gathered over 100,000 likes (seen below, left).

X^[12] user @wumbooty quoted the post as well, saying, "Oh my god ClubChalamet! Hi this is 𓀂𓂘 𓂀𓂳𓃱 do you remember we went to Mesopotamia high together? We used to be a problem in miss ishtars irrigation class," and gathering over 45,000 likes in a day (seen below, right).
